On August 28th, 2016, at approximately 10:50 PM, a Honda Accord, being driven by a 21-year-old male, was driving the wrong way northbound in the southbound lanes of SR-99, and collided head-on with a Toyota Land Cruiser being driven by a 22-year-old male from Quincy, CA going southbound SR-99 just north of Elkhorn Blvd. The driver of the Toyota was transported to UC Davis Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The male driver and male passenger of the Honda were pronounced deceased at the scene. Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in this collision; however, the matter remains under investigation.
