Christian Brothers Women's Basketball Wins 2 of 3 Games
Dec 13, 2019 12:00AM ● By Submitted by Christian Brothers High SchoolSACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) - The Christian Brothers High School women’s basketball season has gotten off to a promising start for the Falcons, who have fared well despite a difficult preseason (League 0-0; 4-2 overall) They captured the consolation trophy Dec. 7, at the Cartwright Classic at Elk Grove High School, winning two of three games. They beat Lincoln of Stockton and Enterprise of Redding, after falling to No.1-ranked Antelope in round one. The Falcons also defeated Grant High and Davis in earlier matchups.
There are several players to watch: Wing Bria Shine (Sr.), guard Donnelli Allen (So.), guard Karli Cooper (So.) and point guard Sarah Jackson (Jr.) have led the way in the early going. Shine is averaging a double-double on the season 11.6 ppg and 10 rpg. Allen is averaging 12.2 ppg, 2 apg and 3 steals pg, while Cooper is coming in strong with 9 ppg, 5 rpg and 2 steals pg. Jackson is averaging 8 ppg, 2 steals and 2 apg.
Coach Shandyn Foster said, “We typically play a pretty tough preseason in hopes that it prepares us for post season, if we are blessed enough to make it. We like to be battle-tested when we approach league. Although we still have a lot of work to do, the season is still very promising. I am looking forward to us finding our stride, executing, and realizing our potential.”
The week ahead: Folsom-Vista Classic Dec. 12-14, at Vista Del Lago High School. Ladies take on Bishop Manogue (NV) in the first-round.
