RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Folsom Cordova Unified School District Superintendent, Sarah Koligian, Ed.D is named the 2021 California Superintendent of the Year, by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).
Dr. Koligian was awarded at the Annual ACSA conference in San Francisco in November and featured in the ACSA publication EdCal.
“Dr. Koligian has steered our ship successfully during the pandemic, arguably the most difficult year in public education, with student success and well-being as her north star,” said Angela Griffin Ankhelyi, Director of Communication and Community Engagement. “To be honored as the Superintendent of the Year by her peers in the state speaks to her strength and inspiration as a leader amongst leaders.”
“Sarah is an outstanding and imaginative leader, collaborator, and a kind and caring colleague,” said David W. Gordon, Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools. “Her district is a unique mix of affluent, working-class, and immigrant communities. For the leader, this presents tremendous challenges in wisely deploying resources, but more importantly, keeping the board and community together in supporting policies that give all district students the opportunity to succeed. Sarah has been masterful in striking this balance.”
Dr. Koligian has been recognized as one of Sacramento’s top 300 Business Leaders for 2019 in their recent publication. She was also recognized by the National Association of School Superintendents in their January 2020 edition.
Presently, Dr. Koligian has been nominated as a candidate for the National Superintendent of the Year through the School Superintendents Association (AASA). All State Superintendents of the Year will be honored in February 2022, during the AASA National Conference on Education when the National Superintendent of the Year will be recognized.
