SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) – California Chief Service Officer Josh Fryday, Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg and UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May announce recruitment of over 1,000 people in the Sacramento region to join the paid California Service Corps. Currently, the California Service Corps is the largest service force in the nation with over 10,000 members. Participants will have the opportunity to earn money while gaining valuable work experience and making a positive impact in their local communities.
California Service Corps members receive living stipends, and many can receive up to $10,000 after completing their service to be used for college, trade school or to pay back student loans. The benefits will help individuals who are facing crises of isolation, student debt and growing income inequality.
The California Service Corps consists of four paid service programs: #CaliforniansForAll College Corps, California Climate Action Corps, #CaliforniansForAll Youth Jobs Corps and AmeriCorps California. Service members gain economic opportunities while tackling the state’s most pressing issues, gaining economic opportunities and shaping the future of the region’s workforce.
