SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group and co-author, Dr. Jyenny Babcock, are proud to announce the publication of “Inspired to Climb Higher: The Challenges, Struggles, Questions, and Joy of Earning Your Doctoral Degree.”

Carmichael resident Babcock, Ed.D., a representative for Inspired to Climb Higher, referred to this book as "a motivational GPS," encouraging readers to engage with the personal doctoral experiences of its eight authors.

"Each of us was facing significant obstacles in our daily lives when we decided to strive for the pinnacle of academic success," Babcock said.

Babcock described “Inspired to Climb Higher” as a preparatory guide for prospective doctoral students, an inspirational book crafted by women to help anyone navigate the challenges of pursuing a doctorate.

“Our book features the personal doctoral stories of its eight co-authors and includes sections with questions, answers and practical advice. Additionally, it has a chapter dedicated to equipping future doctoral candidates for the demands of writing a dissertation," Babcock said.

"Most people enter doctoral programs filled with apprehension because they have little idea what awaits them," Babcock said. "Aspiring doctoral candidates are eager to obtain this esteemed degree but they are often unaware of the numerous challenges and obstacles they will face. This lack of information creates a significant amount of internal fear. To address this, we planned and wrote ‘Inspired to Climb Higher,’ a ‘know-before-you-go' guide that offers essential advice and crucial information for anyone contemplating returning to school for a doctoral degree."

A retired higher-education professional and former doctoral student life coach, Babcock works from her Carmichael home. She splits her time between operating a bookkeeping practice, consulting within higher education and pursuing artistic endeavors. Babcock coached doctoral students on how to thrive throughout the degree-earning process so they could reach the finish line emotionally intact, ready to achieve their post-graduation goals.

The book’s seven other authors include Beverly Middlebrook-Thomas, Ed.D. (Georgia), Deborah Broom-Cooley, Ed.D. (Georgia), Wanda Ebright, Ph.D. (Georgia), Noha Abdou, Ed.D. (California), Helga McCullough, Ed.D. (Pennsylvania), Sallie Middlebrook, Ph.D. (Texas) and Jennifer Malone, Ed.D. (Missouri).
