SacRT Celebrates Launch of New Low-Floor Light Rail Vehicles

SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is celebrating the launch of the new S700 low-floor light rail vehicles on Tuesday, Sept. 3, with a press conference followed by a community event.

This marks a significant milestone in the future of public transit in Sacramento, offering enhanced accessibility, comfort, and convenience for riders.

11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

7th & Richards/Township 9 Station
(7th and Richards, Sacramento)

Join SacRT for the unveiling of the state-of-the-art S700 low-floor light rail vehicles, designed to improve the rider experience with cutting-edge technology and easier boarding. The press event will include a brief presentation followed by a commemorative train ride, giving attendees a firsthand look at the future of Sacramento’s public transit.

Following the press event, SacRT will host a community celebration at the same location from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This family-friendly event will feature tours of the new train, including a special ride at noon, live music, food, games and more. It’s a great opportunity for the community to experience the new trains firsthand and join in the festivities.

Scheduled to participate are Congresswoman Doris Matsui, Congressman Ami Bera, Congressman Kevin Kiley, Assemblymember Kevin McCarty, Senator Roger Niello, Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen and Assemblymember Josh Hoover
