Folsom Lake Symphony Presents “American Salute” Celebrating American Music

Folsom Lake Symphony celebrates America’s 250th anniversary with American Salute featuring masterpieces from Gershwin, Bernstein and Copland and selections from stage and screen including music from Star Wars and Wicked.

Folsom, CA — The Folsom Lake Symphony proudly presents American Salute, an inspiring concert program celebrating the spirit, history, and sound of America. Performances will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Harris Center for the Arts, 10 College Pkwy, Folsom, CA, United States, 95630m.

As America approaches its 250th anniversary, American Salute brings together some of the most iconic and beloved works in the American musical tradition. The program showcases a vibrant blend of orchestral masterworks, Broadway favorites, and unforgettable film scores, offering something for audiences of all ages.

The concert opens with the lively rhythms and colorful orchestration of George Gershwin’s Cuban Overture, followed by his brilliant Variations on “I Got Rhythm”, featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Natsuki Fukasawa. The program continues with the sparkling wit and energy of Leonard Bernstein’s Candide Overture. A highlight of the performance is Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, narrated by esteemed baritone Ralph Cato. Combining powerful orchestration with the timeless words of Abraham Lincoln, this moving work reflects the ideals and resilience that have shaped the American story. The program also features selections from beloved stage and screen productions, including music from Star Wars, South Pacific, Wicked and more, creating a joyful and uplifting musical experience.

Additional performers include a special appearance by the Virtus Choir from John Adams Academy – Roseville. About the Artists Ralph Cato is internationally recognized for his warm, expressive voice and compelling storytelling across opera, oratorio, and concert repertoire. Natsuki Fukasawa, a Steinway Artist and Fulbright Scholar, has performed at major venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and is widely praised for her artistry and versatility.
